A Spring Hike through the Wildflowers

One of my favorite thing about spring in the Pacific Northwest is hiking through the wildflowers. Crawford Oaks, in Columbia Hills State Park, is a hike I like to do each April. It contains the three W’s I look for in all of my hikes: wildflowers, waterfalls, and….. wine!

Crawford Oaks is a fairly easy hike with loops of varying distances. It has rolling hills, but nothing to difficult. There is one stream that you have to cross. Some years it is nothing, but sometimes I do appreciate having my hiking poles and waterproof hiking boots. The loop gives you breathtaking view of the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood, a stream, a small waterfall, and the densest wildflowers ever. Every time I hike this trail it takes my breath away.

A stream flowing near the trail.

After you are done hiking, you are just down the road from Maryhill Winery. It is the perfect place to relax after a hike. They have a great selection of wine. I am a red wine girl and I am never disappointed. Their reserve tasting is worth the money! Make sure you save time to stay awhile, get some food and enjoy a bottle on their deck. The views are amazing. They even have Boccie if you enjoy playing. If you have never played, this a great place to give it a try.

Great wine and a beautiful charcuterie board is a great way to finish a hike.

This was another great day in the beautiful outdoors. I hope you find time to chase an elegant life in the beautiful outdoors this spring.

Cheers!
