A Long Weekend in Las Vegas

I love a weekend getaway with my husband to re-energize from the busyness of our everyday lives. I find Vegas to be one of the easiest places to do this. Once you make it to the strip you can walk to almost anything you would want to do. There are beautiful hotels that each take you to a new world, restaurants with any type of food you can imagine, entertainment of every kind, as well as art exhibits to take in! I would be remiss to not mention the shopping. Every store you can imagine is right there, and often in the most beautiful settings!

Our first morning in Vegas brought us to the Paris Casino for breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi. This is one of our favorite restaurants for lunch and dinner, but we had yet to try it for brunch (one of our favorite meals of the day!). We both enjoyed different variations of Eggs Benedict with mimosas, and they did not disappoints.

I loved the relaxed atmosphere where we could enjoy time together while watching people walk past. Life becomes so rushed that rarely do we have two hours to eat, sip a mimosa, and just catch up. We left brunch relaxed and ready to take on the adventures of the day.

Our next stop of the day was the gardens at the Bellagio. These are always one of my favorites. The work that goes into creating these, all with fresh flowers is incredible. We loved some of the water features this year and somehow they made rats, for the year of the rat, look good.

The next stop of our day was Caesar’s Palace to do a little shopping. With my new business flourishing, my husband encouraged me to splurge on a new handbag (if this statement shocks you, just know it shocked me even more). Our first stop was Louis Vuitton. I instantly spotted a purse that I love. I began looking at it, trying it on with the strap, and loving it. Then I asked the question…. How much??? The answer… $35,000. Needless to say, it did not come home with me.

This gave my husband and I a laugh and we continued shopping. Enjoying the beautiful stores and the fun sky above us. Just to let you know, I still haven’t found the purse that will be my splurge, but we sure had fun looking for it!

All of the shopping left us ready for a little break. We decided to get a cocktail at Vanderpump Cocktail Garden. It has a beautiful garden themed environment with unique cocktails to try. This time we ordered a cocktail for two called Rome is Burning. It was a smoked black cherry Manhattan that came out in a bottle filled with smoke. Not only was it a unique presentation, it tasted amazing as well.

We decided it was time to get ready for our evening event, a Golden Knights hockey game and headed to the Park MGM. Here we did some wine tasting and enjoyed dinner at Eataly. I love eating (and drinking) here. It is a fun collection of Italian food, wine and desserts all in one open area. We have learned that if you go between 4 and 6 they have happy hour pricing on the wine tasting, which lets us try some really nice wines. They also had a deal that within two hours of a Golden Knights game there were no corking fees if you bought a bottle at the wine shop.

We love deep red wines and chose a flight accordingly and we were not disappointed. Add some pizza and a couple of desserts and we were in heaven. Not a bad way to get ready for a hockey game that was only about a two minute walk away (this is one of the things I love about Vegas).

We bought good seats for the hockey game and found ourselves just behind the goal. It was a high scoring game ending in overtime with the Golden Knights up 6-5. There was some excitement near us since the owner and head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders, as well as Marcus Allen were sitting right in front of us. Luckily people were respectful while play was going on. Vegas knows how to do a hockey game and there was always energy in the arena!

On day two we began with brunch at the Eiffel Tower restaurant. We ordered a bottle of champagne for mimosas and this time I enjoyed lobster Benedict. It did not disappoint. We shared an apple dessert with cinnamon ice cream. It was amazing! I bought the cookbook so I can make it at home.

After brunch we headed to the Venetian. It is always fun to wonder through the shops and watch the gondolas in the canal. We did a little shopping and then head to dinner. We never go to the same restaurant twice in one trip, but this time we did. We wanted the french onion soup and steak with caramelized onion and red wine sauce. It never disappoints. We got to the restaurant with a few minutes time before our table was ready and since my feet were sore I decided to put twenty dollars into a penny slot machine (we aren’t big gamblers obviously). On my last pull, to both my husbands and my surprise I won the jackpot! (Not enough to buy the purse though!). That put us in a great mood for dinner and we savored it with a lovely bottle of wine. Another great meal in Vegas.

That evening we enjoyed Mariah Carrey at Caesar’s palace. She put on a great show and her vocals were as amazing as you would expect!

Day three started of with brunch at Giada. We enjoyed it so much. I had bottomless mimosas and lobster hash. We also enjoyed some fresh pastries!

We then headed to Freemont street for some live music and street performers. It is always an entertaining place although we can only handle it for part of the day.

Our final evening in Vegas brought us to Chin Chin for some sushi and then we were off to the Aerosmith concert. They were so good! It was such a fun way to spend our last evening in Vegas.

If you haven’t been to Vegas you should give it a try and if you have please leave comments below with ideas for our next trip! We will be back again and again.

Cheers!
