Life’s Simple Pleasures: My Kitchen

One of the the ways I bring happiness into my everyday life is to surround myself with things that I love. If I have to choose an everyday item I try to find a version that is both high quality as well as beautiful. I find that this makes life’s everyday tasks a little bit more pleasurable!

In today’s post I am going to share with you some of my favorite kitchen items. These are things that make everything from cooking to cleaning a little bit nicer.

Coffee

Let’s start with one of my favorite parts of the day… coffee. I have three favorite ways to make coffee. If I’m going to have a latte I love my Moka pot and milk frother. I have tried many milk frothers and struggled to find one that really did a good job. I finally purchased a Breville frother and it is amazing! If I want a real treat, I add a little grated chocolate as it warms and froths and I have a lovely mocha.

My morning coffee is usually made in my French press or using my most recent find, the pour-over system. I find that they both make amazing coffee and are so beautiful to look at. You will see throughout this post my love of copper and I was thrilled when I could bring that into my morning coffee routine.

Pans

Pans are one of those things where quality really matters. I love my Mauviel copper pans. They are so beautiful and they cook beautifully! Copper is known to evenly spread heat and they can be used on the stove or in the oven. They take a little bit of work to keep polished, but I think it is worth it! I know these are something I will have forever.

When it comes to bake ware, I love my Copper Goldtouch from Williams Sonoma (most of my kitchen items are purchased there). I have had these for quite a while and they bake beautifully and their finish still looks brand new.

For Christmas this year, my husband purchased me several pieces of Le Marque 84 stoneware from Sur la Table. I have baking dishes with lids, ramekins, and small oval dishes that are wonderful for individual servings. He knew I would love them when he saw the fleur de lis on them and he was right.

My most recent purchase is from Goop and it is pink frying pans. I already have two pink dutch ovens from le Creuset, but a little more pink seemed like a good idea. They haven’t arrived yet, but I am preparing for my husband’s eye roll when they do arrive. It’s a good thing he loves me!

Tools

Some of my favorite tools are now available in copper. When I saw the copper Vitamix it was finally time for my blender upgrade. I am happy to report it is amazing. I use it to make cashew milk (no straining and so yummy), smoothies, nut butters, hummus, soups, drinks, and so much more. I love the pre-programmed function for the things I make all of the time. It also is so beautiful.

I also love that Kitchen-aid stand mixers come in copper. My new favorite add-ons for my mixer are the various sizes spiralizers and the vegetable sheet maker. I have found that I don’t need pasta most of the time. I really love the sauces so a vegetable noodle still makes me satisfied.

I also have copper for many of my everyday tools such as spatulas and measuring tools. I love when I can find these in a good quality and still beautiful.

Storage

Another part of my kitchen that I need and like to have beautiful is storage. I have tried to eliminate as much plastic from my kitchen as possible and store almost everything in Weck glass containers. There are both beautiful and functional. With their rubber seals my food stays and fresh and they look beautiful in my cupboards and my refrigerator. Is is just me, or do you find great joy in opening up a beautifully organized cupboard or refrigerator? I live with my husband and son, so lets be real, they have to be reorganized on a regular basis, but when they are at their best they make me really happy.

I hope you enjoyed this new series on life’s simple pleasures. What are your simple pleasures? I would love to read about them in the comments below!

Cheers!
